I recently visited a nursing home in the Alzheimer’s unit. It was an eye opener for me. I saw staff that was overworked and underpaid. They did their best to take care of the residents but they were mostly concerned about getting the residents in bed and going home.
I left the nursing home feeling sad about what I saw. In spite of this, I know that there are facilities that really care about their residents. You cannot be in this industry and not care about the work you are doing.
For those of us who work in the human service industry, let’s make a difference in the lives of our senior citizens!
